Organizational ambidexterity in the hospitality industry

Abstract

In today's business environment, organizational ambidexterity stands as a key construct that enables firms to balance the exploitation of existing capabilities with the exploration of new opportunities. This study aimed to analyze organizational ambidexterity within the four-star hotel sector in Puebla, Mexico. For this purpose, data were collected through a questionnaire administered to managers and directors. The findings revealed that hotels implement both exploitation activities (such as price adjustments, staff training, and forming strategic alliances) and exploration activities, evidenced by investments in innovation projects, the acquisition of new technologies, and the pursuit of new market segments. The study concludes that organizational ambidexterity is an integral capability in this sector, with hotels showing a remarkable ability to adapt to environmental changes while simultaneously ensuring operational efficiency.
