Abstract

The objective of this study was to find the characteristics of digital transformation and innovation in wine SMEs that allow them to join digitalization in order to achieve effective management, followed by winegrowers on the cheese and wine route in the problem that the study focused on was the lack of knowledge necessary to join the digital transformation. The context where the study was located was the municipalities of Tequisquiapán, San Juan del Río, Ezequiel Montes and Cadereyta, with a sample of six companies, considered as an initial sample. The methodology had a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive approach with a grounded theory research design, semi-structured interviews were conducted. Within the results found, three levels of digitalization were defined, the most important was designated as Level 3, which has a digitalization with several characteristics that have been developed through innovation and that impact effective management, we consider that SME leaders do not know the benefits of adopting it, but this concept also brings with it the adoption of a culture that is currently experienced by most companies in the world of all sizes and industries, the digital culture, this is a gap in this digitalization phenomenon, which makes its adoption difficult. In this sense, this article is the result of a first immersion in the real world of these companies, however, it is the basis for continuing with the research of the same context.
